Cedar, Deodar

The Deodar Cedar, or Cedrus deodara, is a majestic tree that graces many landscapes around the world, though its roots lie in the towering ranges of the Himalayas.

  1. Appearance: This evergreen tree boasts a pyramidal shape, characterized by a distinctive and graceful drooping of its branch tips.

  2. Foliage: The tree is adorned with needles that are notably longer than those found on other cedar varieties, typically measuring between 1 to 2 inches in length. These needles are arranged in clusters along the branches, becoming progressively smaller as they near the twig tips.

  3. Cones: This tree has larger cones, which can grow up to 4 inches in size. Unlike many other trees, these cones are oriented upright.

  4. Size: This tree typically reaches heights of 50 to 60 feet. However, it can grow to heights over 100 feet.
